Directed by Donavan Glover, here is the video for Elzhi's new single, which is taken from his forthcoming studio album, which is set to be released later this year. One of the most consistent MCs on the the planet, this is real Hip-Hop.
Following the huge success of his 'Elmatic' mixtape last year, Detroit-born MC Elzhi has been hard at work on his new LP, which is set to drop later this year. To give us a taster of what we can expect, he today uploaded a new track called 'Blue Widow', which sees El at his lyrical best - one of the best rappers alive - can't wait for the album.
Elzhi gives the latest track to be lifted from Elmatic some sick visual treatment - music executive and artist manager Jae Barber, also a Detroit native, provides an authentic picture of the world Elzhi revisits in his nostalgic spin on Nas' classic song, Memory Lane. The video includes rare visuals of various artists such as Eminem and Royce da 5'9. Amongst the many artists included are the late Baatin, Proof and J Dilla. Elmatic started out as mixtape, but many people (including myself), believe this is the best Hip-Hop album to be released in 2011. Amazing, just amazing.
After the huge success of Elzhi's stunning Illmatic tribute album, Fat Beats have decided to release the instrumentals of Will Sessions incredible live production. You can grab the special edition LP HERE - something every Hip-Hop head should own.
Gowhere Hip-Hop catches up with Elzhi to talk about Elmatic, Slum Village and the late J Dilla. One of my favourite MC's - be sure to get Elmatic if you haven't already.
YES YES YES!!! Here is the lead single from Phonte's upcoming debut solo album, Charity Starts At Home, which is set to drop on September 27th. 'Te is on fine lyrical form, Elzhi is as monstrous as ever and 9th Wonder is one of the greatest producers to ever walk the Earth - what more could you want from a lead single?! This man is easily of my favourite artists of all-time, both rapping and singing, and I'm pretty sure that this will be the Hip-Hop release of the year. Download for free HERE, and then be sure to support next month.
Latest track of the Cons' upcoming mixtape, Movies On Demand 3, which is apparently just days away. Three of the most under-rated MCs of all-time on one track together - guaranteed fire.
Second video from Elzhi's tribute mixtape to NaS and his classic Hip-Hop release, Illmatic. Elzhi is probably better than your favourite MC. If you've been living under a rock, then you can download the tape HERE.
I'm sure many people were sceptical about the ex-Slum Villager taking on one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all-time, but I was never in any doubt that this was going to be nothing short of incredible as soon as I had heard 'Detroit State Of Mind'. Elzhi has been one of my favourite MCs for the past 10 years and is lyrically as good as anyone, and I really do mean anyone. The way that him and producer Will Sessions have gone about making this mixtape is flawless - without changing a great deal they have created the perfect tribute to one of the best albums and rappers we have ever heard. This will be the best mixtape of 2011, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is better than any Hip-Hop you will hear this year. Download HERE. Elzhi the greatest.
