It's common knowledge that The Roots have been hard at work on their thirteenth (first concept) studio album, but nobody had any idea of a release date, until today. You can expect Undun to drop December 6th on Def Jam Records. Excited.

On the 4th June, The Roots took to the stage at the infamous Roots Picnic where they performed all of my favourite tracks from their latest album, How I Got Over, mixed with a selection of their classic hits. Then, half way through the set, they brought out Mr. Nasir Jones, who performed 8 tracks with the legendary band. This is a must hear for everyone, so here is the download link for the entire performance. NaS and Black Thought are the Kings.

My favourite piece from the new Booker T. Jones album, The Road From Memphis, which is produced by Jones with help from ?uestlove and Rob Schnapf - the album was recorded by Daptone Records mastermind Gabriel Roth with backing by The Roots. The Road from Memphis refers not only to Booker T’s journey but to the evolution of the soul music he helped invent as it traveled from Memphis to Detroit, Philadelphia and beyond. This track sees a rare vocal from Jones himself offering a first-hand look at his hometown. Real music.

Can’t explain how good it is to see Pete Rock & CL working together again. This is fucking unreal. And yes, the fucking was necessary.
