Debbie - Rain

Once every so often, an artist comes along who just feels really special - Debbie is one of those people. Ever since featuring on the last Stormzy album back in 2022, she's someone who I've been following and keeping track of their journey. This new single 'Rain' feels like she's really started to find her sound and I can tell that this will be a huge year for Debbie. Can't get this one out of my head. LOVE! Stream here.

Kid Cudi - Blue Sky

2024 has started strong in terms of album releases, but the most exciting is probably the return of Kid Cudi, with 'INSANO' and features the likes of Pharrell, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott and loads more. The penultimate track is 'Blue Sky' and feels like classic Cudi, and is one of my favourite things that he's released in recent times. Buy & stream the album here.

Sven Wunder - Take A Break

Like a cross-between Nujabes, SAULT and Henry Mancini - the best compliment that can be paid to Swedish producer Sven Wunder, whose album 'Late Again' blew my socks off this year. Classed as a jazz-soul album, but you can really feel the hip-hop production inspiration, and it makes for the most calming and enjoyable listens of the year. Check it out here.

ML Buch - Flame shards goo

One of the most stunning pieces of music I've heard over the past few months - this song is taken from Danish artist ML Buch's debut album 'Suntub'. That guitar working with her voice is completely hypnotising and quite addictive. Grateful to have discovered her work this year... Check out the album here.

Puma Blue - Hounds

The House of Coxhead is mostly about new music, but sometimes the word 'new' can mean just discovered. On my mission to listen to an album every day, I came across Puma Blue (Jacob Allen) for the first time; a London-based artist, whose music is like nothing I've heard before. There is a real depth, in every sense, to both the production and the lyrics on the new album 'Holy Waters' from September. My favourite from the album was 'Hounds', which actually dropped over a year ago. So happy to have this in my life.

Brainstory - Nobody But You

Sounding like it could be straight from the 60s or 70s, but also managing to sound fresh as f*ck!! Big Crown Records never seem to miss, and they continue to really keep the soul alive. You can get your copy of the 45 here.

Black Pumas - Mrs. Postman

The latest single from Black Pumas' latest album 'Chronicles of a Diamond', which dropped a few weeks ago. A great band, a great song, a great video, and a great album. Absolutely love the piano work in this one, but then again... what isn't there to love about the Black Pumas? Get the album in all formats here.

Mustafa - Name of God

One of the most stunning pieces of music in 2023. Sudanese-Canadian poet Mustafa has created a masterpiece with 'Name of God', expressing deep sadness and emotion in such a beautiful and artistic way. Very rare these days to come across a song that you put on repeat, but I'm about 10 listens in, and it just keeps getting better.

Cleo Sol - Things Will Get Better

Releasing music in a completely unique way to the rest of the industry has become synonymous with Cleo Sol and Inflo over the past couple of years. That continued recently, with Cleo dropping her second surprise album in as many weeks. 'Gold' feels like the album we were all waiting for. From start to finish, it feels otherworldly and hit me deeply with both its lyrical content and the production.

Jorja Smith - Broken Is The Man

One of the UK's finest talents of the past 10 years, Jorja Smith returned this past week with her highly-anticipated sophmore album 'falling or flying', which comes 5 years after the incredible 'Lost & Found'. The whole record is a beautiful piece of art, but 'Broken Is The Man' has been on repeat and is a standout for me. You can feel how much she has grown as an artist on this album - it feels like Jorja Smith is going to be here for a very, very long time.
